The Penn State Abington men's tennis team picked up its sixth win of the year with a 6-3 victory over Arcadia University on Friday afternoon. The Nittany Lions won only one doubles match for a point, followed by winning five of six singles matches, all worth one point.
The Nittany Lions (6-1) opened the match by dropping all but one doubles contest.
Jordan Domsky and
Matthew Wolff couldn't close out the match and struggled at the very end, losing 9-7 at No. 1, while the duo of
Ross Raddi and
Nigel Hopkinson ended up in a tiebreaker, but lost 9-8 with the 7-4 tie breaker decision.
James Howell and
Anthony Hui teamed up and defeated their opponents 8-3 for the lone double victory for the Nittany Lions at No. 3.
Abington managed to pull out the victory in singles play as the Nittany Lions won five of the six matches from Hopkinson (6-3, 6-3),
Ross Raddi (6-2, 6-3), and
Ivar Markowski (6-1, 6-0). Howell (6-4, 4-6, 7-6) and
Jordan Domsky (7-5, 4-6, 7-6) needed a third set tie breaker to determine the team victory and managed to win both slots to give Abington its sixth win on the year.
Abington will return to action on March 28 as it hosts Immaculata University for the 3:30 p.m. match time.
