Abington Drop Third Straight Lose 6-4 at North Carolina Wesleyan

Box Score
The Penn State Abington baseball (4-4) team lost its third-straight game, dropping a 5-4 decision at North Carolina Wesleyan Wednesday night.

Freshman Tom Ditro 1-for-4 with two RBIs and collected five assists in the field as junior first baseman Bill Parave went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk and posted 12 putouts in the field. Fellow teammates Pat Moran and Matt Lawson each collected two hits with Lawson contributing an RBi and then earned a run in the loss.

Abington posted on the board in the first as Parave singled out to right field and then took the opportunity off a Wesleyan throw error to advance towards second, bringing Mike Kerns to the plate to take the early lead.

Wesleyan later answered back in the third as they produced three hits to score a run to tie it up at one run apiece. The momentum didn't stop there as Wesleyan pushed for the lead, scoring a run in the fifth and sixth inning to make it a 3-1 ballgame.

Abington went ahead and rallied back during the seventh as Lawson singled to left field to bring Dustin Kology home. Two batters later, Ditro singled out to left center, collecting his two RBIs of the game as the Nittany Lions reclaimed the lead to make it 4-3.

The lead suddenly evaporated as Weslyen gartered three runs in the bottom of seventh off of five hits to retake the lead once again and held on for the 6-4 win.

Abington will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as they look to bounce back from the loss against Shenandoah University.
