The Penn State Abington baseball team lost 18-11 to Arcadia University on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game.
The loss drops Abington to 21-15 on the season while the Knights improve 15-17 overall.
Abington jumped ahead 9-1 in the first four innings as Hill notched an RBI single in the third before knocking the ball out to center field plating two additional RBIs.
Arcadia's bats came alive in the fifth inning, scoring seven runs in two hits. The Knights advanced on three wild pitches before David Jacobs doubled out to left field, driving in three runs to make it a 9-8 game, Abington.
Abington held its stance at the plate, tallying twice in the fifth before Arcadia responded with four runs of its own in the top of the sixth to take the 12-11 lead for the first time of the game.
The Nittany Lions remained idle after four scoreless innings as Arcadia tallied six additional runs to extend the lead and held on for the 18-11 win.
Hill finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs and a run, while
Tom Ditro and
Matt Lawson each went 2-for-4, scoring two runs of their own as Lawson collected an RBI.
Pat Trymbiski started on the mound for the Nittany Lions and allowed eight runs in two hits, walked seven and struck out three in four full innings.
Chris Marone filled in for relief, allowing four runs in one hit and walked three batters for his first loss of the season.
Abington will return to action on the road tomorrow at Reading, Pa. for a rival doubleheader match-up against Penn State Berks in the battle for first place in the NEAC Conference standings.
