Box Score 2 The Penn State Abington baseball team split a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader with Cazenovia College Monday afternoon, falling to the Wildcats 4-1 in the opener, before beating Cazenovia 11-7 in the nightcap.
Game 1 – Cazenovia 4, Abington 1
In the opener, the Wildcats jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead before Abington responded in the second inning with a Dan Hill RBI single to trail by one.
In the third inning, first baseman Pat Shepardson delivered a two-run home run to extend the lead, 4-1 for the Wildcats.
Both teams strived to score additional runs during the remainder of the game but to no anvil as Cazenovia College held onto the 4-1 lead for its first conference win of the season.

Bill Parave went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored the lone run for Abington.
Game 2 – Abington 11, Cazenovia 7
Abington changed intensity during the second game of the series, jumping out to a 8-1 lead after three innings.

Mike Kerns started the power hitting for the Nittany Lions, slamming a two-run home run for the 2-0 lead in the first. Abington then opened the second inning, driving in five runs in just four hits before adding a run in the third off a
Michael Corrigan RBI single.
Cazenovia began its comeback rally during the fourth inning, hoping to catch up with the Nittany Lions, scoring four runs with an additional two runs in the fifth, however Abington managed tokeep the Wildcats at bay by posting a pair of runs respectively.
Abington's defense held in stride during the remainder of the second game as right fielder
Matt Lawson an insurance run with an RBI single, giving the Nittany Lions the 11-7 victory and its first conference win of the season.
Abington will return to action on Wednesday, April 4
th as it travels to Immaculata University for a non-conference nine inning matchup with the first pitch at 4 p.m.
