The volleyball team split its matches on the opening day of the North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover at Wells College, falling to SUNYIT 3-0 before sweeping Wells College 3-0.

Despite the loss, Abington did not give up without a fight against the Wildcats of SUNYIT.  In the first set, Abington managed to force an extra point set before losing the set to a 30-28 decision. The remainder of the match was close to the wire as the Wildcats managed to edge Abington 25-18 and 25-23 in the final two sets.

The Lady Lions bounced back from the three set loss to dispatch Wells College in three quick sets with a 25-22, 25-16, and 25-20 decision to be 1-1 in the NEAC Conference standings after day one.

Freshman Abby Millan recorded 28 kills, 22 digs and a block assist in the two games played. Sophomore Kate Schalck notched 21 kills and three blocks and a block assist, while senior Krysten Boyd tallied 36 digs and freshman Leah Brown adding 52 total assists in the first day.

The Blue and White conclude the NEAC crossover tomorrow with a match against Morrisville State.
