Lady Lions Win 1, Lose 2 in NEAC Crossover

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team started off the day just short at the North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover tournament, hosted by Gallaudet University, losing to Wells College 3-1, but managed to rebound with a 3-1 victory over Morrisville State before losing to conference leader, SUNYIT 3-0.

With the lone win and two losses, the Nittany Lions remain in sixth in the conference standings with a 4-6 record and 9-20 on the year.

In the opening match, the Nittany Lions struggled from the start, dropping the first two sets 25-18, 25-22, before finding their winning ways in the third with a 25-21 decision, however it was too late as the Express closed out the match with a 25-21 decision.

Sam Amaro and Rachel Bohl both recorded a pair of double-doubles with Amaro leading the offense with 20 kills and 21 digs and Bohl adding 14 kills and 16 digs in the game. Libero Victoria Lohman tallied 31 digs as Sam Nelson posted 17 assists in the loss.

In the matchup against the Mustangs of Morrisville State, Abington managed to rebound from a tough loss with a 3-1 victory of their own. After two sets, both teams split a 25-23, 16-25 decision before Abington took the next two sets, 25-22, 25-10 for its fourth conference win on the year and ninth overall.

Once again, Amaro and Bohl collected their second double-doubles of the day with Amaro recording 17 kills and 14 digs with Bohl posting 13 kills and 11 digs. Nelson tallied a career-high 49 digs in the game.

The Nittany Lions knew they had to show their pride in the nightcap, especially when facing against the top team in the conference, SUNYIT. Abington came out strong in the first set, forcing extra points, but the Wildcats managed to tame Abington for the 29-27 victory for the first set point. From there on out, Abington could not handle the strong attack from SUNYIT as the Wildcats went on to sweep the next two sets by scores of 25-12, 25-19 for the win.

Amaro led the squad with 15 kills in the final game to finish the day with 52 total kills and 42 digs. Bohl finished the three-game crossover with 36 kills and 34 digs, while Nelson contributed 98 assists and Lohman with 87 digs on the day.
