Box Score 3 ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2013 season by dropping two non-league outings to Susquehanna University and Ursinus College before ending the day with a victory over Alvernia University at the Dig Pink Quad on Saturday afternoon.
The team also did a fundraiser for the Dig Pink Side-Out Foundation and the strong support from the fans kept the spirit of support alive throughout the day.
Freshman
Rachel Bohl (Philadelphia, Pa.) registered 43 kills, 37 digs and 10 service aces on the day for the Nittany Lions (10-23), who fell to Susquehanna (29-8) by scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-21 and to Ursinus' Bears (9-17) by game scores of 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22) in the middle match. After the break, Abington managed to regroup and muster up a final victory of the year, defeating the Crusaders of Alvernia University (6-17) by game scores of 14-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 in the finale.
Sophomore
Abby Millan (El Paso, Texas) finished the day with a pair of double-doubles for a combine total of 30 kills, four aces and 40 digs with a solo block. Freshman
Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) collected 60 assists with three aces and 11 digs. Freshman libero
Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.) contributed 81 digs on defense for the Blue and White and registered six aces.
For the Lady Lions, the 10-23 overall record should do little do damper the positive vibes coming from within the volleyball program at Penn State Abington. With huge production numbers from everybody on the team, the future looks bright for the Penn State Abington volleyball squad, and only time will tell just how far the program can go in the future.
