Box Score ABINGTON, Pa. – Despite double-doubles from
Sam Amaro and
Rachel Bohl, the Penn State Abington volleyball team lost 3-2 (25-8, 19-25, 25-17, 19-25, 4-15) in five sets to Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday night.
The Nittany Lions (8-18, 3-4 NEAC) outhit Bryn Athyn .058 to .034 and finished the match with more kills (41-32) and assists (34-29) than the Lions (16-8), who came up with 94 digs compared to Abington's 78.
Amaro, a freshman outside hitter, posted a career high with a match-high 13 kills and 16 digs for her second double-doubles of the season. Bohl tallied 13 kills and 14 digs for her fifth double-doubles of the year.

Abington jumped ahead early into the first set with an 8-0 run before Bryn Athyn burned a timeout. However, the break did not slow down the Nittany Lion's attack as a pair of kills from
Heather Kobrzynski and Bohl followed by an Lion's error, put Abington ahead 11-0 before Bryn Athyn managed to post its first point of the game. Abington later prevailed with a 25-8 victory in set one.
Bryn Athyn countered in the second set earning a 25-19 victory over the Nittany Lions. Bryn Athyn gained an early lead at 4-0, until Abington rallied back to trail by just two points three times, until the Lions broke free with a 17-11 lead before Abington called for time. After the break, the Nittany Lions could not regain their strength, as Bryn Athyn struck hard with an eight-point edge for the 25-19 decision in set two. Amaro and Bohl both registered three kills in the set for Abington.
The Nittany Lions hung tight with Bryn Athyn throughout much of the third set but lost 25-17 in set three. Trailing 7-5, the Lions used a seven-point rally to tie and retake the lead for good to close out the set 25-17.
Abington again responded after dropping a set, taking set four 25-19 as Abington outhit the Lions .289 to .000. Both teams were neck-to-neck, with the margin expanding no more than two points, until Abington utilized a 5-1 run to lead 18-14 before closing out the set with a 25-19 to force the deciding set. Bohl came through with seven kills and Lohman put up six digs.
Bryn Athyn edged Abington in the fifth set 15-4 to take the set and the match. When the two teams switched sides, Bryn Athyn led 8-2, and the Lions used a 7-2 run from there to close out the decisive set.
