Abington Rings in the New Year with 66-28 Win over Notre Dame Maryland

Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – It was a monumental game for the Nittany Lions as the Penn State Abington women's basketball team (2-5) defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University, 66-28, on the road to pick up its second victory of the year. Jessica Schmidt led the Nittany Lions with a career-best 25 points and 13 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double this season.  

Janay Winston contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, while Teharah Worrell added 13 points and four steals on the day. Breanna Lineman notched three points with 11 rebounds and three steals in her first game with Penn State Abington this year.
The Nittany Lions took advantage of Notre Dame's turnovers, scoring 23 points off of 16 turnovers. Abington also scored 15 points on second chances and shot 36.6 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the foul line.

Abington opened the game with a 8-3 run before Notre Dame tied up the game at eight points before a Schmidt jumper with 11:50 left in the first half started a 32-9 run over the duration of the half, putting the Nittany Lions in control 40-17. The Blue and White dominance continued in the second half, as it outscored the Gators, 26-11, including an 18-2 run between the 19:17 and 9:43 marks. Abington went on to extend the lead 66-28 for its second victory on the year.
