Men's Tennis Drops First Match On Annual Spring Break Trip

NORFOLK, Va.- The Penn State Abington men's tennis team opened its annual spring break action on the road Saturday, March 8, but ran into a formidable opponent as Virginia Wesleyan raced to an 8-1 win over the Nittany Lions in non-conference action.

The host Marlins swept the doubles round and took five of six singles flights in handing the Blue and White the road setback. It opened up a two-match trip for the Nittany Lions in two states over the annual spring break period.

Abington's lone win against the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent came from junior Kevin Wilkinson by a 6-3, 6-2 count.

With the loss, the Nittany Lions fell 2-2 overall this campaign while Virginia Wesleyan moved to 3-1 overall, with the triumph.
Abington will next travel to Maryland to face St. Mary's College of Maryland on Thursday, March 13 starting at 5 p.m.
