READING, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team picked up its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win with a 7-2 victory over Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon. The victory puts Abington at 6-4 on the year and atop the standings at 2-0 in the NEAC West.
The Blue and White started strong, sweeping two of the three doubles matches.
Steven Ly and
Kevin Wilkinson paired up at No. 2 doubles for the 8-1 win as
Mike Herman and
Sam Borai rolled to an 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Nittany Lions continued its dominance, winning five of the six matches.
James Howell needed a third set to win a tight battle at No. 2 singles, getting a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win.
Monte Dunson also needed a third set at No. 3 singles as he rallied back with a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory. Ly picked up Abington's fifth point with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles before Wilkinson took No. 5 singles on a tiebreaker, 6-0, 7-6 (6-4). Borai wrapped up the final match on a 6-4, 6-2 decision to give Abington its seventh point of the game.
Abington returns to action against Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, April 9. The first match is set for 3:30 p.m.
