The Penn State Abington men's tennis team picked up its first conference win of the 2014 campaign with an 8-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College at the Fossler Tennis Center on Friday afternoon at Despite moving the contest indoors due to rain, the Nittany Lions swept all swept all singles play and picked up two points from doubles play.
The Nittany Lions (5-4, 1-0) opened the match by winning two of the three doubles contests to take a 2-1 lead in the dual match.
Steven Ly and
Kevin Wilkinson won at No. 1 with an 8-3 decision, while
Mike Herman and
Sam Borai picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 3 Doubles
Abington won all six singles positions, including straight set wins at the top five spots.
Monte Dunson,
Aamer Bashir, Herman, Wilkinson, and Borai all won in straight sets while
James Howell needed a tiebreaker to clinch the 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) decision for the eighth point of the contest.
The Nittany Lions will return to action on Saturday, April 5 in another North Eastern Athletic Conference match when they take on their interstate rivals Penn State Berks.
