DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis squad picked up their first win of the Fall 2014 season with a 9-0 sweep over host Delaware Valley College Saturday afternoon.
In doubles play, Abington quickly jumped on top winning two doubles as senior
James Howell (Abington, Mass.) and junior
Monte Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa.) took the first doubles flight with an 8-1 decision before senior
Kevin Wilkinson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Michael Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) paird up to sweep the second doubles, 8-0. Third doubles was award to Abington by default as Del Val forfieted the match.
Up 3-0 after doubles play, the winning streak continued for the Nittany Lions as Herman took first flight with a 6-2, 6-0 decision before newcomer
Justin McNab (Elkins Park, Pa.) earned his first intercollegiate win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the second flight.
Sam Borai (Toms River, N.J.) closed out the win for Abington at third flight, while Howell and Mohammed Farhan (Elkins Park, Pa.) each picked up the 6-0, 6-0 victory at flights four and five, respectively. Del Val forfeited the sixth singles match by default.
Abington will return to action on Tuesday,
September 16th as the Nittany Lions take on Albright College on the road. The first service is slated for 3:30 p.m.
