Box Score 2 LANCASTER, Pa. – In the final conference games of the season, the Penn State Abington women's volleyball team split the series with Penn State Berks and Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon. Abington took the first game 3-2 over Penn State rival Berks, but in game two the Nittany Lions fell to the hosts 3-1 to close the crossover.
Abington set a new program record of 19 wins as they moved to 19-8 for the season and an 8-5 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
In the first match, Abington jumped out to a 25-21 win in the first set, but Berks tied with a 25-19 win in the second set. Abington earned a 25-20 win in the third set to take a 2-1 advantage, but Berks tied the match with a dominate 25-12 win in the fourth set. The Nittany Lions battled back and forth in the fifth set, but a service ace from
Cortney Schwar (Annandale, NJ), gave Abington the 16-14 win to clinch the match.
In the second match of the day, Abington jumped out on top with a 25-21 win in the first set, but the Chargers would win three straight sets 26-24, 25-20, and 25-19 for the win.
Abington will have a week off before they will host Delaware Valley University on Thursday October 27, at 7:00 p.m. The Nittany Lions will have to wait to see if they will be one of the final teams in the NEAC tournament this year.
