CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – For the third straight year, the Penn State Abington men's tennis team captured the NAC West Championship with a 5-2 decision over Penn State Berks on Saturday morning.
Abington improves to 9-6 overall and 6-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
Mohammed Ammouni  and
Qili Jian  kicked off doubles action with an 8-6 win at the top flight and the paring of
Monte Dunson and
Justin McNab earned an 8-4 decision.
Mike Herman and
JT Kling  rounded out doubles with an 8-2 win for the clean sweep.
Berks battled back with two victories in singles, but a 6-1, 6-2 win by Ammouni gave Abington a 4-2 advantage.
Monte Dunson clinched the championship for Abington with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Abington will travel to the Tri-City Tennis Club in Latham, N.Y. on May 8 to face off against the NAC East Champion for an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
