ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team hosted their first match of the season but came away empty handed in an 8-1 loss to Penn State Berks on Monday afternoon.
In doubles action, Berks took two of the three matches with
Philip Belotserkovsky and
Dhruv Shahane picking up the lone point in an 8-1 win at the second flight.
In the number two singles spot Shahane came close to picking up another point for the Nittany Lions. The sophomore fell behind early in a 2-6 loss in the first game but battled back to tie the set with a 6-3 win. In the tiebreaker Shahane dropped a 10-7 heartbreaker.
Abington will back in action tomorrow when they head to Penn College for a 2:00 p.m. match.
