McCarty Makes Pro Debut with Dunedin Blue Jays

Abington, Pa. – Former Penn State Abington standout Ryan McCarty made his professional debut Wednesday night for the Dunedin Blue Jays as the Division III National Player of the Year was slotted in the lineup against the Tampa Tarpons.

Batting ninth as the designated hitter, McCarty led off the bottom of the third inning and delivered a single to center field for his first professional hit in his very first professional at-bat.  McCarty finished the game 1-for-4.

Back in July, McCarty became the first Abington player to sign professionally after the Toronto Blue Jays signed him as an Undrafted Free Agent following the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft.  Since signing, he took part in Draft Camp before being elevated to Toronto's Single-A affiliate, the Dunedin Blue Jays, on Tuesday.

McCarty and the Jays are back in action tonight as Dunedin hosts Tampa in the third game of a six-game set.  Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.  For more information on the Dunedin Blue Jays and to catch the game visit milb.com/Dunedin
