Abington Falls Short at McDaniel, 5-4

Box Score Finksburg, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped a non-conference match at McDaniel College by the score of 5-4 on Friday at the Carroll Tennis Center.

How It Happened

* Abington was victorious at first doubles as junior Josh Kurek and freshman Tim Belotserkovsky defeated McDaniel's Jake Kegley and Drew Ryder by the score of 8-5. McDaniel would go on to take both second and third doubles to lead 2-1 after doubles competition.

* Belotserkovsky made it a 2-0 day as he went on to take his second singles match against Chris Spann. Belotserkovsky took the first set, 6-4, before Spann won the second set, 6-2. In the 10-point super tiebreaker, Belotserkvosky dominated Spann with a 10-4 win to seal the match.

* Freshman Nick Talarico defeated Evan Darr at third singles by the score of 6-2 and 7-5. Talarico has now won his last three singles matches.

* Sophomore Jeevesh Gupta picked up the point at fourth singles for the Nittany Lions. Gupta defeated Parth Shah by the score of 8-6.

* McDaniel had victories at first, fifth and sixth singles to take the match, 5-4.

All-Time Series
Today marked the second meeting between Abington and McDaniel since the start of the 2019-20 season. The all-time series is now tied at 1-1.

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, March 15 as the Nittany Lions host Moravian University in a non-conference contest. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts.
