Abington Competes at Bill Butler Invitational

RESULTS

West Chester, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's track & fielf team competed at the annual Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester University on Saturday afternoon at John A. Farrell Stadium.

Meet Highlights

* In her first collegiate meet, sophomore Safara McIntyre broke the school record in the 100-meter dash as she finished the event in 13.72 seconds to set the new standard.

* Junior Brielle Worrall and sophomore Sarah Gibbons finished neck and neck in the 400-meters. Worrall broke her own school record in the event in a time of 1:14.30, while Gibbons finished a millisecond behind in 1:14.31 setting a new personal-best.

* Worrall also set the new program standard in the 800-meters as she finished in 2:51.17 breaking her previous record by just under two seconds. She also set a new personal-best in the 1,500-meters with a time of 5:44.46.

* Gibbons came away with the new school record in the 1,500-meters as she crossed the finish line in a time of 5:41.35.

* Sophomore Amelia Matt improved her school record in the long jump as she registered a distance of 11' 2" (3.40m). She also set a personal-best in the 100-meter dish with a time of 15.38 seconds.

* Freshman Jackie Lewis continues to improve on her school record in the shot put event. She finished with a distance of 25' 7.25" (7.80m).

Next Up
Abington returns to action next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the Widener University Invitational. Day one of the two-day event begins on Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m.
