Olayinka-Yusuf Finishes 2nd in 100-meters at United East Championships

RESULTS

Washington, D.C. – Penn State Abington freshman Teni Olayinka-Yusuf finished second in the 100-meters at the second annual United East Conference (UEC) Championships hosted by Gallaudet University at Thomas O. Berg Track over the weekend. As a result, Olayinka-Yusuf earned All-United East second team honors becoming the first women's track athlete to earn all-conference accolades.

Meet Highlights

* Olayinka-Yusuf qualified for the finals of the 100-meters after finishing second in the preliminaries with a time of 13.33 seconds. She went on to finish second overall in the finals in 13.00 seconds; just shy of her school record of 12.96 seconds. Olayinka-Yusuf also competed in the 200-meters and finished fourth overall with a time of 27.39 seconds.

* Freshman Autum Marteine-Jackson finished 10^th overall in the 400-meters and recorded a new personal-best with a time of 1:17.74.

* Sophomore Kritka Singh also recorded a 10^th place finish as she competed in the 800-meters. Singh finished with a time of 3:19.44. She also took part in the 1,500-meters and finished in 7:04.60 (16^th) to set a new season-best time.

* Freshman Zara Tabansi set two new personal bests in the discus and shot put events. In the discus, Tabansi recorded a distance of 75' 06" (23.03m) (15^th) and in the shot put recorded a distance of 25' 9" (18^th).
