Abington Falls Short at Harrisburg, 6-3

Box Score Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team fell short at Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 6-3 in United East Conference (UEC) action on Sunday afternoon at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Abington took the point at third doubles as sophomore Kyle Elliott and freshman Nick Talarico defeated Harrisburg's Colin Flack and Casey Detwiler, 8-4.  Elliott and Talarico trailed 3-2 in the match and went on to win six of the next seven games to take the match. 
 
* Harrisburg picked up victories and first and second doubles to enter singles play ahead 2-1 in the match.  At first doubles, sophomore Andrew Brown and freshman Tim Belotserkovsky fell short to Harrisburg's Nick Rohn and Andrew Schreck, 8-6.  In a hard-fought matchup, neither duo held a lead larger than a game in the match. 
 
* Brown improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play at first singles. Brown cruised to a 6-0 victory in the opening set but fell behind 3-0 in the second set versus AJ Krasley.  He would go on to win the next six games though to take the set, 6-3, and win the match in straight sets.
 
* Junior Josh Kurek won his second singles match against Schreck by the scores of 6-4, 6-5.  Kurek fell behind 4-3 in the first set but rallied to win the next three points to get the win.  He also trailed 2-0 in the second set before winning the set 6-5. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 1-4 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Monday, April 17 as the Nittany Lions take a break from conference play to face Saint Elizabeth University in a non-conference match at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.
