Abington Takes Part in Danny Curran Invitational

Chester, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's track & field team competed at the annual Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Friday and Saturday at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Meet Highlights

* Several school records were established, including in three sprint events, two distance events and the long jump. In addition, 15 new personal-best marks were set.

* Freshmen Tracee Jones and Mariah Moore each finished the 100-meter dash with identical times of 14.93 seconds to set the new school standard in that event.

* Junior Peijia Chen set a new mark in the 200-meter dash as she finished in 33.43 seconds. She also set a personal-best in the 100-meters with a time of 16.27 seconds.

* Freshman Lauren Berg took part in the 400-meter dash and finished in a school record time of 1:35.62. She improved her time by nearly nine seconds after recording 1:46.20 last week at the Ursinus College Outdoor Invitational. Berg also set a new personal-best in the shot put event with a distance of 16'7" (5.05m).

* Junior Brielle Worrall recorded a pair of school records in the distance events. She finished with a time of 2:49.01 in the 800-meters and then set the new standard in the 1,500-meters with a time of 5:56.29.

* Sophomore Amelia Matt competed in the long jump and set the new school record with a distance of 10' 6" (3.20m). Matt also took part in the 100-meter dash and set a new personal-best at 15.53 seconds.

Next Up
Abington returns to action next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the two-day Osprey Open hosted by Stockton University. The annual meet begins on Friday, April 7 at 4:30 p.m.
