Abington Continues Season at Widener Invitational

RESULTS

Chester, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's track & field team took part in the annual Widener University Invitational on Saturday held at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Meet Highlights

* Two school records fell as both freshmen Charles Langley and Nicolas Nieves set new standards in their respective events. Langley finished the 100-meters in a time of 11.95 seconds to set the new school record. In the 5,000-meters, Nieves finished in 18:20.59 in his first time running the event as he clocked in with a new school mark. Nieves also took part in the 1,500-meters and was the team's top finisher in that event with a time of 4:25.75.

* Freshman Raphael Alila, Jr. was the team's top finisher in the 200-meters as he finished in a new personal-best time of 26.46 seconds. He also competed in the 400-meters and finished in 1:01.91; just shy of his personal-best of 1:01.05 set last week at the Bill Butler Invitational.

* In the 400-meters, freshman Ross Sherrod finished in 57.15 seconds and was followed close behind by Nieves who finished in 57.80 seconds. Sherrod was also the team's top finisher in the 800-meters as he registered a time of 2:19.36.

* In the long jump event, Simi Ilemobede finished with a distance of 16' 7" (5.05m).

Next Up
Abington will conclude its inaugural season next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the Lions Outdoor Invitational hosted by TCNJ.
