Five Records Fall at Widener Invitational

RESULTS

Chester, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's track & field team continued its season at the annual Widener University Invitational on Saturday at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. The Nittany Lions set five new school records, including three sprint events.

Meet Highlights

* Sophomore Safara McIntyre broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash as she finished in a time of 13.31 seconds beating her previous mark of 13.72 seconds set last week at the Bill Butler Invitational.

* Freshman Tracee Jones also broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash as she finished in a new standard time of 30.76 seconds. Jones also set a new personal-best in the 100-meters with a time of 14.79 seconds.

* In the 400-meters, junior Brielle Worrall bettered her school record time as she finished in 1:12.84 breaking her previous mark of 1:14.30. Worrall also competed in the 800-meters and was the team's top performer as she finished in 2:50.46.

* The 4x100 meter relay team of Mariah Moore, Jones, Angela Sanders and McIntyre set the school record in the event finishing in a time of 54.26 seconds to place 12^th overall.

* Freshmen Jackie Lewis and Isabella Rodriguez both competed in the javelin event for the first time. Lewis finished with a distance of 82' 4" (25.09m) to establish the program's first record in the event. Rodriguez recorded a distance of 71' 3" (21.73m). Lewis was also the team's top finisher in the shot put event as she recorded a distance of 25' 0.5" (7.63m).

* In the long jump, sophomore Amelia Matt and junior Peijia Chen finished back-to-back in the event. Matt recorded a distance of 11'1.5" (3.39m) while Chen finished with a distance of 10' 1.75" (3.09m).

Next Up
Abington will conclude its inaugural season next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the Lions Outdoor Invitational hosted by TCNJ.
