Three Named to CSC Academic All-District Softball Team

Abington, Pa. – Seniors Maddie Duffy and Jenna Gorman along with sophomore Hailey Gamble were all named to the Softball Academic All-District® team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).  CSC All-District® team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  The Abington trio are earning Academic All-District® honors for the first time in their respective careers.
 
Duffy boasts a 3.77 cumulative grade point average and is a finance major at Abington.  In her four-year career, Duffy batted .310 with career numbers of 74 hits, 16 doubles, four triples, one home run, 57 runs and 45 RBI.  She finished the 2023 season batting over .300 for the second straight season with a .304 average.
 
Gorman sports a 3.89 GPA as an Information Sciences and Technology major.  In 102 career games, Gorman is a .310 lifetime hitter with 93 hits, 16 doubles, six triples, 68 RBI and 55 runs in her four-year career.  This season she finished with a .284 average and totaled a career-high eight doubles.  Gorman was named Abington's Outstanding Female Student-Athlete for 2022-23 academic year.
 
Gamble, as a duel major, owns a 3.87 GPA as she's majoring in Psychological Social Studies and Criminal Justice.  This season Gamble batter .302 and registered 32 hits, including 11 extra-base hits with five doubles, four triples and two home runs.  She drove in 25 runs and scored 18 times.  In two seasons at Abington, Gamble has a career .321 average with 68 total hits to go along with 53 RBI and 52 runs. Gamble was the 2022-23 recipient of the Fred Striet Memorial Award.
 
Abington finished the 2023 season 20-16 overall as the Nittany Lions reached the 20-win plateau for the sixth time in the program's Division III era and for the second straight season.  Abington also qualified for the United East Tournament with a 14-10 conference record to earn the fourth seed.  It marked the Nittany Lions' 10th straight appearance in the postseason.
 
In order to be eligible to earn a CSC Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and in athletic eligibility, own a cumulative grade point average above 3.50 and have significant athletic credentials.
