Abington Opens Spring at Pennsylvania Classic

RESULTS

State College, Pa. – The Penn State Abington golf team opened the spring season at the Pennsylvania Classic hosted by Penn State Altoona at the Penn State White Course in State College. Day one of the tournament was also the fourth annual Penn State Division III Challenge.

Penn State Abington finished day one with a team score of 335.

The Nittany Lions improved on their team score on day two with a score of 329 to finish the event 14^th overall.

Senior Michael Festa was the team's top-finisher as he scored a two-day total of 161 (82-79) as he finished 46^th overall. Fellow senior Leonard Gipson finished tied for 47^th as he carded a 162 (84-78).

Sophomore Jake Gregory finished tied for 53^rd with a 163 (81-82), while freshman Matt Duggan totaled a two-day score of 170 (78^th – 87-83).

Other finishes include, sophomore John Donahue (86^th) who totaled 178 (88-90) and senior Chris Taylor totaled a 181 (t-88^th – 88-93). Junior Tyler Burton scored a 189 (t-94^th) after totaling scores of 91 and 98.

Abington returns to action on Monday, April 1 as the Nittany Lions compete in the Scarlet Raptors Spring Invitational hosted by Rutgers-Camden at the Rancocas Golf Club.
