Abington Wins Scarlet Raptors Spring Invitational

RESULTS

Willingboro, N.J. –
The Penn State Abington men's golf team won the Scarlet Raptors Spring Invitational hosted by Rutgers University-Camden on Monday at the Rancocas Golf Club.  The Nittany Lions registered a team-low score of 331 at the one-day tournament.
 
Abington edged out Marywood University who finished second overall with a team score of 333.  Stockton University finished third with a score of 338 and was followed by Lancaster Bible College (341) and the host Scarlet Raptors (345) to round out the top-five.
 
Senior Leonard Gipson finished tied for third overall and was the Nittany Lions' top finisher.  Gipson carded a 79 on the par-71 course.  Fellow senior Michael Festa finished tied for fifth with a score of 81.
 
Sophomore Jake Gregory finished tied for eighth as three Nittany Lions appeared in the top-10 in the individual standings.  Gregory recorded a score of 83.
 
Sophomore John Donahue finished tied for 23rd with a score of 88, while sophomore Bern Popky finished with an 89 (t-25th).
 
Rutgers-Camden's Pearse Lee earned medalist honors as he registered a field low 77.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, April 10 as the Nittany Lions compete against Delaware Valley University in a dual match at Five Ponds Golf Course.
