Grimm Named United East Offensive Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. - Penn State Abington freshman setter McKinley Grimm was named the United East Conference (UEC) Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22 as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Grimm and the Nittany Lions went a perfect 4-0 in non-conference matches, including a pair of home victory to start the week against Immaculata University (W, 3-0) and Delaware Valley University (W, 3-1). Abington capped the week with two more triumphs in a tri-match hosted by Wilkes University. The Nittany Lions defeated Bard College (W, 3-1) and host Colonels (W, 3-2).

Grimm paced the Abington offense with 8.5 assists per set, including a stretch of three straight 30-plus assist performances. Against Delaware Valley, Grimm totaled 35 assists; one shy of her season-high at the time, to go along with 12 digs. She opened the tri-match at Wilkes with 37 assists to set a new season-high against Bard and then improved on that mark with 39 assists versus the Colonels. She also finished the week averaging 2.18 digs per set and totaled eight aces.

Through 13 matches this season, Grimm is averaging 7.54 assists per set and has totaled 25 aces. She is also averaging 2.56 digs per set on defense.

Abington (11-2, 0-0 UEC) will look to extend its current five-match winning streak as the Nittany Lions hit the road to face Saint Elizabeth University in a non-conference contest. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
