Medina Named Defensive Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. – Penn State Abington sophomore Fabiola Medina was named the United East Conference (UEC) Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 30. This marks the first weekly honor of the season for Medina and the second of her career.

Abington went 3-0 last week as Medina averaged 5.3 digs per set and totaled four aces. She recorded a season-high 20 digs and three aces in the team's 3-0 victory over Keystone College in the conference opener. Medina followed that up with 15 digs in the four-set win against Delaware Valley University. Earlier in the week she totaled 18 digs in a 3-0 victory against Wilkes University.

In 10 matches played this year, Medina is averaging 2.80 digs per set to go along with 14 service aces.

Abington (8-5, 1-1 UEC) is back in action on Saturday as the Nittany Lions host Cedar Crest College in a United East contest. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
