Abington Starts New Season at Purple & Gold Opener

RESULTS

West Chester, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's track & field team opened the 2025 campaign at the Purple & Gold Opener hosted by West Chester University on Saturday.

Meet Highlights

* Freshman Briana Blackwood recorded the team's top overall placement as she finished 19^th overall in the 100-meters. Blackwood clocked in at 14:39 seconds. She also competed in the 200-meters and registered a time of 29.96 seconds (39^th).

* In the 800-meters, sophomore Kritka Singh and freshman Liza Worrall finished 22^nd and 23^rd respectively. Signgh finished in a time of 3:38.84, while Worrall finished in 3:39.13. Worrall also took part in the 1,500-meters and recorded a time of 7:16.79 (33^rd).

* Freshman Zara Tabansi made her collegiate debut in the shot put and discus events. Tabansi recorded a distance of 24' 4.25" (7.42m) in the shot put (34^th) and finished with a distance of 65' 5" (19.93m) in the discus event (30^th).

* Freshmen Ice Longenbach and Autum Marteine-Jackson also made their collegiate debut as both competed in the 100-meters. Longenbach finished in 15.98 seconds (31^st), while Marteine-Jackson recorded a time of 16.19 seconds (31^st).

Abington returns to action next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the two-day Osprey Open hosted by Stockton University.
