Abington Finishes Tied for Sixth at United East Championships

RESULTS

Harrisburg, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's golf team finished tied for sixth at the two-day United East Conference (UEC) Championships that concluded on Saturday afternoon.  Penn State Harrisburg served as host of the championship which was held at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.
 
Abington finished with a two-day score of 668 (324-344) to finish tied for sixth overall with Wilson College (322-346).  Penn College edged our Penn State Harrisburg by four strokes to win the championship.  The Wildcats finished with a team score of 612 (293-319) while the hosts finished with a 616 (297-319).  Lancaster Bible College rounded out the top three with a score of 623 (306-317).
 
Penn State Berks' Peyton Moyer earned medalist honors as he recorded the lowest individual score in the championship after carding a two-day total of 147 (74-73).
 
Championship Highlights
 
* Senior Bern Popky and sophomore Trevor Ridge finished 22nd and 23 respectively after recording the team's two lowest scores. Popky finished with a 162 (79-83), while Ridge recorded a two-day score of 167 (80-87). Popky parred 10 holes in the first round and also had a pair of birdies as he finished with a 79. He followed that up with 10 more pars in round two, including six on the front nine. Ridge had similar success on day one with 10 pars and one birdie.  He wrapped up round two with seven pars.
 
* Junior Matthew Kilner finished tied for 27th as he recorded a two-day score of 169 (81-88). Kilner finished with an 81 on day one as he parred eight holes, including five on the back nine.  He also birdied hole 11.
 
* Freshman Anthony Carson finished 30th overall with a score of 170 (84-86).  In his first conference championship, Carson opened with an 84 in round one totaling eight pars.  He had a birdie on hole six and parred six holes on the back nine. In the final round, Carson had five pars on the front nine and another four on the back nine for nine total pars in the round.
 
* Sophomore Anthony Feliciani came away with a two-day score of 175 (86-89) to finish 34th overall.  Feliciani parred nine holes in the opening round, including five on the front nine.  He registered a birdie later in the round on hole 12. Feliciani finished the championship with an 89 and had six pars in the round.
