Abington Slated to Finish Third in United East

Latham, N.Y. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team secured two first-place votes and totaled 96 points in the United East Conference (UEC) Preseason Coaches Poll.  As a result, the Nittany Lions are predicted to finish third in the United East standings.
 
St. Mary's College (Md.) received seven first-place votes and finished with the most points in the poll with 116.  The Seahawks were followed by the defending champion, Penn State Harrisburg, who total 109 points to go along with three first-place votes.  Penn College (86) and Lancaster Bible College (83) followed in fourth and fifth respectively with only three points separating them in the poll.
 
The next three teams to round out the top-eight and potential postseason teams, include Cairn University (78), Notre Dame of Maryland University (68) and Penn State Berks (50). 
 
The rest of the poll is as follows with Wilson College (33), Keystone College (32), Penn State Brandywine (29) and Gallaudet University (12).
 
The United East championship is set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 31 with quarterfinal action.  The top-four seeds will host games with the winners of each game advancing to the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 3. This year's championship game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7.
 
Abington (9-6-5, 6-1-1 UEC) qualified for the postseason for the fifth straight season under sixth-year head coach Pat Morris.  The Nittany Lions advanced all the way to the conference semifinals for the fourth time in five years.
 
Abington opens the 2026 season on Tuesday, Sept. 1 against Rutgers University – Camden at Memorial Field for the team's home opener.  The Nittany Lions will then host Swarthmore College on Friday, Sept. 4 before hitting the road on Sunday, Sept. 6 against Rutgers University – Newark.
