Box Score Galloway, N.J. - The Penn State Abington men's basketball squad lost a tough opening game earlier this evening at the Richard Stockton Tip-Off Tournament. The Nittany Lions got a double-double from sophomore
Mike Marvin en route to 75 points, but fell to the host Ospreys by a final score of 88-75.
Penn State Abington jumped out to an early lead with a balanced scoring attack, as Marvin, senior Donald DeLeo, and junior
Ken Watson all chipped in early to lead the Nittany Lions. Stockton was able to tie the game up on a fast-break layup at the 17:09 mark, and from there on they never looked back. The Ospreys were able to jump out to a twelve point halftime lead due in large part to their 30 points in the paint to only 10 from Penn State Abington.
The second half was a much tighter affair, as the Nittany Lions were able to close to within nine points off of a three-pointer by junior
Mike Colacci at the 10:35 mark. However, Stockton was able to maintain a steady scoring pace from that point on, extending their lead once again to as much as 21 point before the Nittany Lions closed to make the final 88-75 scoreline.
Penn State Abington was led by Marvin and Colacci, who each tallied 16 points on the night. Marvin also had a game-high 13 rebounds for his double-double. Sophomore
Max Alton also hit double digits for the Nittany Lions, netting 15 points and leading the team with 3 assists.
Stockton was led by senior Darnell McCargo, who registered a career-high 26 points. Sophomore Josh Blamon also tallied a career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double of his own.
