Nittany Lions Top Cairn 107-84

Box Score LANGHORNE MANOR, Pa. – A pair of double-doubles from juniors Mike Marvin and Avery Barnes helped the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions top Cairn University, 107-84 this afternoon.

The Nittany Lions even their record to .500 (2-2) on the year thanks to the strong performances from Marvin's 26 points and 14 rebounds, and Barnes' 23 points and 12 rebounds on the day. The duos went 22-for-29 from the field as the Nittany Lions made 62.9 percent of their baskets throughout the game.

Three other players contributed to the victory in double digits with junior Max Alton and freshman Nisiar Smith posting 15 points each, along with six assists by Alton and five from Smith with and Devin Jones adding 14 points in the game.

Penn State Abington jumped ahead strong in the first half as the team shot 68.8 percent from the floor, going 6-for-9 (66.7%) from beyond the arc to lead 53-37 at the break.

Cairn hoped to ignite a rally in the second stanza, but the Nittany Lions were too much to handle, hitting 56.7 percent of their shots and going 18-for-20 from the stripe for the 107-84 win.

Abington will return to action next week as the Nittany Lions will open their first North Eastern Athletic Conference game of the season, traveling to Lancaster Bible College for a 5 p.m. game on Tuesday, November 26.
