Box Score Lancaster, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's basketball earned their eighth-straight win earlier this evening in a hostile environment at Lancaster Bible College. The Nittany Lions spoiled the Chargers' Senior Night celebrations, coming away with a 68-59 victory.
Mike Marvin led the Blue and White with 22 points on the night.
Lancaster Bible (4-20, 3-10 NEAC) actually led for most of the first half in the affair, using their home-crowd advantage to extend their lead to as much as seven points at times. The Chargers were helped by a 4-for-10 three-point shooting performance in the half. However, Penn State Abington used a 14-9 run to close out the last 8:27 of the half and take a 32-30 lead into the locker room at halftime. A jumper by
Mike Marvin put the Nittany Lions ahead by one point with a minute left to play, and a free throw from the 6-5 sophomore with two seconds left before the horn gave the visitors their two-point halftime lead.
Penn State Abington (12-12, 10-3 NEAC) used an 8-2 run to open the second half and earn their largest lead of the game at 40-32. A jumper from
Avery Barnes opened the scoring for the Nittany Lions, before
Mike Colacci and R.J. Handy hit back-to-back threes to give the Blue and White an eight-point advantage. Lancaster Bible was able to work their way back and tie the game up three separate times. At the 11:43 mark, Handy hit a three that put the Nittany Lions on top 49-46, but Keith Keltner answered right back for the Chargers with a three of his own to knot the game at 49.
This would be the closest the Chargers came for the rest of the night, however. Penn State Abington used some great defense and put together a 19-10 run to close out the game. A jumper from Marvin was the first step in getting the Nittany Lions back their lead with 7:56 to play. Another Marvin jumper put the Blue and White up four, but another Chargers three closed their deficit to just one. No matter for Penn State Abington, as the Nittany Lions reeled off eight straight points to put the game just too far out of reach for the Chargers' offense. Lancaster Bible closed to within two points with just over a minute left, but Penn State Abington made seven out of nine free throws to shut the game down and take home the victory.

Avery Barnes got a double-double for the Nittany Lions, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 boards. Also helping the Blue and White to victory were
Max Alton and R.J. Handy, who scored 18 and 13, respectively. The Chargers were led by seniors Keith Keltner and Dan Karl, who poured in 16 and 15 in their final regular season home games.
With the win, the Nittany Lions even up their overall record and stay a half-game ahead of Penn State Berks for first place in the NEAC South Division with a 10-3 conference record. Penn State Abington will have a chance to extend their winning streak to nine games on Saturday afternoon as they close out the regular season on the road at Penn State Harrisburg.
