ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team earned its third straight conference win with the latest against the College of Saint Elizabeth in a 9-0 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
The win propels the Blue and White squad to remain undefeated in conference play (3-0), improving to 7-8 on the year.
Abington had a strong showing from
Alexandra Murianka and
Lori Phillips winning five straight matches on the year, while
Olya Popili and
Evgenia Nigay both won three straight singles matches.
The Nittany Lions won all three doubles matches, losing just four games as
Jenny Abraham and Murianka paired up to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Phillips and Nigay took the No. 2 doubles match and the tandem of Popili and
Carly Powell winning at third doubles.
Abington's streak continued well into singles play, losing just four games as Abraham, Popili, Nigay, Murianka, and Powell all swept their opponents in straight sets. Phillips won the first set at No. 2 singles before her opponent retired, recording her fifth consecutive match.
The Nittany Lions will return to conference play as they travel north into New York to take on Keuka College and Wells College this weekend to push their winning streak to five.
