Zollner Named United East Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. – Penn State Abington junior Jana Zollner was named the United East Conference (UEC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4 as announced by the conference office earlier in the week. This mark's Zollner's first career weekly honor.

Zollner went undefeated in Abington's lone match of the week as the Nittany Lions defeated Arcadia University, 7-0, in a non-conference match. It marked the team's first win over the Knights since 2015.

The Westhampton native teamed up with freshman Lilly Downey for a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Knights. Zollner then cruised through her No. 1 singles match against Jada Young in straight sets winning the match by identical 6-1 scores.

In two matches this fall, Zollner is currently undefeated with a 2-0 record in doubles and a 2-0 record in singles play.

Abington (1-1) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Rutgers-University Camden in a non-conference contest. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
