Volleyball Falls in Five Against Bryn Mawr

Box Score ABINGTON, Pa - With each set being closely contested, the Penn State Abington women's volleyball team bowed to Bryn Mawr College in a tough non-conference five set (25-21, 16-25, 25-15, 17-25, 9-15) match up. Outside Hitters sophomore Abby Millan (El Paso, Texas.) led the Nittany Lions offense with 14 kills while freshman Rachel Bohl (Philadelphia, Pa.) followed with 12. Junior outside hitter Samantha Abbott (Alberta, Canada.) recorded 14 kills and sophomore middle blocker Rachel Ofili (Eagle Rock, Ca.) paced the Owls with 12 kills.

Penn State Abington (7-10) gained momentum during the first set as they stood ground against Bryn Mawr College (9-4) in a 25-21 victory. However the Owls would not give up as a commanding 9-2 opening lead in the second set forced the NIttany Lions to call a time out. Motivation wasn't found for the home team as the Owls ran away with a 25-16 victory to tie the match.

However the Nittany Lions mirrored the Owl's success in the opening act of the third set with a 6-0 run. The Blue and White raced ahead to take the commanding 2-1 lead of the match with a potential final fourth set. Things were looking bright for Abington as freshman libero Victoria Lohman's (Frederick, Md.) service put the Nittany Lions up 8-3. A regrouped Owls' team clawed back with a 22-9 run to again tie the match with a decisive set five. Unfortunately the spark wasn't found in the fifth set as Owls dismantled the Nittany Lions 15-9 to seal the deal.

Millan collected 24 digs in her defensive effort while Lohman and Nohl recorded 19 and ten digs respectively. Freshman setter Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) recorded game high 36 assists to pace the Nittany Lions

Junior setter Danielle Preziuso (Linwood, Pa.) had 35 assists to go along with six digs while sophomore defensive specialist Zoe Holman (Walterboro, S.C.) and Abbott each collected 19 and 12 digs respectively in their defensive effort for the Owls.

The women's volleyball team will head to York College for the Spartan Invitational quad match on Friday, September 27th. They will face off the host school at 5:00 p.m. followed up with Stevenson University at 7:00 p.m.
