GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team managed to pick up its fifth straight win with a pick up a 6-3 win over Arcadia University on Wednesday to close out the fall season. It was also the first time that Abington has defeated Arcadia in program history.
The women's won two of the three doubles and four of the six singles matches. Freshman
Gabrielle Eberhardt (Cherry Hill, N.J.) partnered up with senior
Olya Popili (Philadelphia, Pa.) for the 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Sally Phung (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Honestee Sphabmixay (Philadelphia, Pa.) paired up to clinch the 8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play Arcadia looked to take the lead with a pair of wins at No. 1 and 2 singles before Abington went on to win the next four matches with
Sheena Philip (Philadelphia, Pa.), Eberhardt, Sphabmixay, and Phung picking up victories in straight sets.
Abington will close out the fall season by hosting their Alumni match on Saturday, October 18th and then head into their off season 3-1. Matches will resume in early
