ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Abington won three singles matches, two doubles match and received two forfeits for a 7-2 win over Baruch College of New York in a non-conference women's tennis dual Saturday morning.
Honora Hegarty and Shenna Philip teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Olya Popili and Alexandra Murionka paired up for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Popili went on to collect a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles, as
Taylor Zisholtz picked up the win at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Christina Pereira fought a tough match at No. 5 singles, forcing a third set for the 3-6, 6-2 (13-11) victory.
Y Nhi Nguyen received a forfeit at No. 6 singles and
Janie Saile and Zisholtz won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
The Nittany Lions will return to action on Wednesday, March 26 as they travel to Wayne, Pa. to take on the Eagles of Eastern University. The first match is set for 3:00 p.m.
