ST DAVIDS, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team saw three-match winning streak come to an end Thursday afternoon as the Eagles of Eastern University defeated the Nittany Lions 6-1 before darkness overwhelmed the last two singles play.
The Blue and White's (4-5) only victory came at #3 Singles where freshman
Taylor Zisholtz went three sets to knock off the Eagles' Jenn Balbi, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4.
One of the toughest battles of the day came at #2 Singles where junior
Olya Popili fell short in her chance to upset Eastern's Megan Klosterman, 6-2, 7-5.
The battle continued into doubles play where the Nittany Lions' duo of freshman
Janie Saile and Zisholtz hoped to clinch another point for the Blue and White but fell short in a tight 8-4 contest to Laura Thomas and Nicole Filipek.
Abington will return to action on Friday, April 5 when it opens conference play against Lancaster Bible College. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
