ABINGTON, Pa - A late dramatic victory by
Janie Saile (Huntington Valley, Pa.) secured the Abington women's tennis team its fifth point and a 6-3 victory over Eastern University Tuesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions continue their impressive start, as they improved to 7-1 before they begin their NEAC competition.
Abington took 2-of-3 doubles matches with the first being a 8-6 win from
Sally Phung and
Janie Saile, and the second a 9-7 victory by
Sheena Philip and
Honestee Sphabmixay.
Phung would then get the third point for Abington with an easy victory 6-1 and 6-0 victory.
Sheena Philip continued the streak winning the fifth match to increase the Nittany Lions lead to 4-1.
Eastern would make a late push by taking the next two matches to close the gap.
But three sets from
Janie Saile would secure the win for Abington.
Next the women's tennis team open NEAC play at home against Penn State Berks, Sunday March 29
th at 11:00 a.m.
