ABINGTON, Pa – A comeback victory by
Honestee Sphabmixay (Philadelphia, Pa) kept the Abington womens tennis streak intact, as they defeated Penn State Berks 5-4, Sunday afternoon.
The women's tennis team improved to 8-1 on the season, two games shy of their best record.
Abington opened with a victory in doubles from
Gabrielle Eberhardt (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and
Sheena Philip (Philadelphia, Pa) but Berks took the next two doubles matches, holding a 2-1 lead going into singles competition.
An opening loss singles competition almost put away Abington, down 3-1. But four consecutive victories, including an exciting come from behind win in the final match by Sphabmixay, stole the win from Berks.
Abington will return to the court Wednesday as they travel to Bryn Athyn College.
