BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season after a 9-0 win on Thursday afternoon. The Nittany Lions improve to 1-4 after a rough start to the season.
Abington dominated doubles action and didn't lose a single game, with
Sally Phung and
Sam Amaro recording a golden set, winning 32 straight points. Only the second time in Penn State Abington women's tennis history, and first time in a doubles match.
The Nittany Lions followed up their brilliant doubles performance with four shutouts in the second, third, fifth and sixth flights. At the top flight
Honora Hegarty earned a 6-2,6-1 win and
Sally Phung rounded out the group with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Abington will be back in action when they travel to Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon.
