Abington Shuts Out Wildcats on Senior Day

Box Score Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team defeated visiting Penn College, 9-0, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Abington Tennis Courts. Prior to the match the team celebrated senior Michelle Ly in part of Senior Day festivities.

How It Happened

* The duo of Ly and Emina Mulaosmanovic came away with an 8-6 victory at first doubles against the Wildcats' Delaney Bouton and Kelly Williams.

* Abington received all three points at doubles with the win at first and wins by default at second and third.

* In singles action, Ly made it a perfect 2-0 afternoon on Senior Day. She defeated Bouton at first singles in straight sets by the scores of 6-2, 6-2.

* Tinatin Sadzaglishvili also picked up a win in singles play after defeating Williams at second flight in shutout fashion. Sadzaglishvili won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

* Abington received the points at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles by default.

All-Time Series
Today marked the seventh meeting between Abington and Penn College since the start of the 2014-15 season. The Nittany Lions are now 6-1 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.

Senior Recognition
Ly was competing in one of her final home regular season matches at Abington. The former conference Rookie of the Year earned All-NEAC first team honors in 2019 in doubles while helping the Nittany Lions win the NEAC Championship and qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.

Abington returns to action on Monday, April 18 as the Nittany Lions host Rosemont College in a non-conference match starting at 3 p.m.
