Abington Finishes 4th at United East Preview

RESULTS

Chambersburg, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's golf team joined members of the United East Conference (UEC) at the Chambersburg Country Club to compete in the conference preview on Monday. Wilson College hosted the event and will also serve as the host of the United East Championship in the spring.

Tournament Highlights

* Senior Jack Lenox finished fifth overall as he carded an 80 (+7) on the day on the par-73 course. Lenox parred 11 holes, including seven on the front nine.

* Freshman Justin Martin also finished in the top-10 as he placed ninth overall with an 82 (+9). Martin registered a pair of birdies on the day and parred seven holes.

* Junior Bern Popky closed out the day ranking 17^th overall with a score of an 84 (+11). Popky parred nine holes and birdied hole 14.

* Junior Nathan Sauder also scored for the Nittany Lions as he finished tied for 27^th with a 91 (+18). Sauder parred four holes on the front nine and had a pair on the back nine to finish the tournament with six pars.

* Freshman Joaquin Canales totaled a 95 (+22) to finish 31^st overall.

Tournament Notes

* As a team, Abington finished tied for fourth with Rutgers University - Camden. Both the Nittany Lions and Scarlet Raptors totaled a team score of 337.

* Penn College, the reigning conference champions, finished first overall as a team with a score of 320. The Wildcats' Peyton Mussina was the top overall individual finishing with a 74 (+1).

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 10 as the Nittany Lions compete at the Ursinus College Fall Invitational. The one-day tournament will be held at Turtle Creek Golf Club.
