Tursunboeva Named United East Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. – Penn State Abington sophomore Sevara Tursunboeva was named the United East Conference (UEC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19 as announced by the conference office earlier in the week.  This is Tursunboeva's first career United East weekly accolade.

Tursunboeva went 2-2 on the week in a pair of matches. She earned the team's lone point in the match at Neumann University after defeating the Knights' Kayleigh DelleVecchi at third singles.  Tursunboeva cruised to a 6-1 victory in the first set but dropped the second set by the score of 6-4.  In the third set tie-break, Tursunboeva trailed 7-4 but rallied to win the next six points to take the set, 10-7.

Tursunboeva also picked up a win at second doubles against Neumann as she teamed up with freshman Alyssa Thompson.  The duo won their match by the score of 6-2.

Abington wrapped up the fall portion of its season and will resume play later this coming spring.
