Women’s Tennis Honored by ITA for Academic Success

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis program received recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) when the organization announced its annual academic awards earlier this week.
 
Abington earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for the second straight season after finishing the academic year with a team grade point average of 3.42.  In order to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, program's must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above.
 
In addition, six student-athletes were honored with the ITA Scholar-Athlete award for registering a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.  Those honored include, Juliana De Souza, Arianna Leo-Olagbaiye, Aziza Rozikova, Alyssa Thompson, Sevara Tursunboeva and Soniyah Youngblood.
 
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,309 Division III women's Tennis student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 177 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
