Lachawiec Named United East Offensive Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. – Penn State Abington freshman Shane Lachawiec was named the United East Conference (UEC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 27 as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Lachawiec's first career weekly award.

Abington went 1-0-1 this past week, including a 2-1 victory over St. Mary's College (Md.) in the United East opener. Lachawiec started the week by scoring the team's lone goal in a 1-1 draw at Stockton University for his first collegiate goal.

Lachawiec then delivered what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the conference victory over St. Mary's. His score in the 64^th minute gave the Nittany Lions a 2-0 advantage and proved to be the deciding goal in the contest.

Abington (2-4-3, 1-0-0 UEC) returns to action tonight as the Nittany Lions travel to face Cairn University in a United East contest. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
