The Penn State Abington women's basketball team completed its final road trip of the season with a 77-48 loss to host St. Elizabeth College (16-9, 13-5 NEAC) on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Abington remains winless.
Gabrielle Benedict led all scores with 14 points. She also had six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the loss.
Jacyln Vandiver notched 11 points and eight rebounds as
Trish Watson added nine points, two steals and two assists.
The College of St. Elizabeth outshot Abington from the get-go as the Phoenix went 17-for-38 (44.7%) from the field, scoring 20 points off of turnovers, while Abington struggled to hit the net only completing 25.9 (7-for-29) during the first half. Three Lady Lions led the team with seven points before heading into the locker room with St. Elizabeth holding a comfortable 46-23 lead at the half.
Abington could not assemble the rally during the second half, hoping to edge for the lead. Sabrina Jarmolinski led the charge for St. Elizabeth during the second half as she posted 13 points to put the game out of reach as the Phoneix handed Abington their 23
rd loss of the season.
The Lady Lions will wrap-up their regular season at 2 p.m. tomorrow when they host Penn State Berks.
